Facebook, My Space and Bebo censorship

Social networking sites Facebook, Myspace and Bebo are soon to be required to remove within 24 hours of a complaint, material which is not suitable for children, such as nude, violent content, images and comments.

This is because the government is bringing in new internet child safety content guidelines, with children's internet safety in mind.

Byron Review
The Byron Review which was published yesterday also called for search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN to have a prominently placed “safe search” button in their site navigation, so that potentially harmful material can be filtered out of the default search.

The trouble is that children know how to get around such measures, unlike most adults who are less internet savvy.
