Stop Blocking Pagerank Flow with a 302 Redirect

Why do large corporate companies use 302 redirects wrongly, because their developers seem to know what they are doing?

The most common mistake they make is to 302 redirect their base domain to a meaningless default CMS homepage, that is often chosen by the developer, who clearly does not understand SEO in any way.

302 Redirects

302 redirects do not pass Pagerank and what these large CMS driven sites do is to block the Pagerank from flowing through their site, this is not a good setup.

Websites Should be Search Engine Friendly

If a site wants to be search engine friendly it should only use 301 redirects, because they pass Pagerank, 302 redirects do not pass Pagerank, so a blockage is formed making the site less stable.

Often a site will also dead end a sites canonical structure, where any Pagerank from a non www. pages gets lost.

Canonical Redirects

If you want to make a site redirect from non www. too www. then you must use 301 redirects otherwise you are losing some of the site's overall Pagerank.

When a site is setup correctly with 301 redirects the website becomes a lot more stable than if a site has bad 302 redirects in place.
